Step 1: Financial Analysis and Investment Process
Before providing you with an investment strategy, your advisor will first need to know:
- What are your investment goals?
- What is your time horizon?
- What are your needs for income?
- What is your tolerance for risk?
- What are your investment resources?
Based on your answers to these and other questions, your advisor will help you determine your investment policy and recommend an appropriate risk-to-return portfolio model for you.
Step 2: Asset Allocation
Ultimately, what drives your returns is more than timing or the specific securities you select, but the way your assets are allocated in stocks, bonds, REITs and cash, and how they are rebalanced over time. In fact, according to a respected academic study (Brinson, Hood & Beebower, Financial Analysts Journal, 1991) over 90% of portfolio performance is determined by how your assets are allocated.
The approach we take establishes an efficient combination of asset classes for each risk-to-return profile. We will recommend adjustments periodically based on changing market conditions and will continually rebalance your portfolio back to the target asset mix in an ongoing effort to manage risk at your desired level.
Step 3: Investment Manager Selection
Since no one investment company can be the best in all areas, Townsend Retirement Specialists uses a multi-manager approach to develop our portfolios. Our portfolios feature a carefully selected group of investment managers, who have been ranked by Townsend Retirement Specialists. We have the ability to track performance data and organizational profiles on over 3,500 investment firms and products.
Step 4: Monitoring and Rebalancing
Market forces and economic conditions are constantly changing, which can directly affect your asset mix and prompt the need for rebalancing. With your permission we will rebalance your portfolios quarterly for tax-deferred accounts and annually for taxable accounts.
Townsend Retirement Specialists receives market data daily. In addition, we receive daily downloads so that we have current account information for every client. If a change is in order we will contact you with the information and recommendations.
Step 5: Reporting
An important part of the investment process is to keep you informed and in control. That is why our clients receive clear, ongoing communications whether it is by phone, mail or e-mail. Whenever you have a question you can always call us for counsel and assistance.
Investing is serious business; after all, your future depends on it. You can choose to go it alone, but knowing how challenging that can be, doesn’t it make sense to work with a team of advisors that has your best interests at heart?
If you are ready to commit to having a team of talented investment professionals who are backed by a disciplined process on your side, simply call us to schedule a complimentary appointment. It is the first stop in your future.
